Layla Says Former WWE Women’s US Champ Reminds Her Of The Divas Era

For nearly a decade, former WWE Women’s Champion Layla was one of the most entertaining personalities during the Divas Era, whether she was paired with Michelle McCool as part of LayCool or when she turned heel in 2013. Although the Divas Era officially ended ten years ago, Layla mentioned in a recent interview with Denise Salcedo that there is one current women’s star who embodies that time period more than anyone else on WWE’s roster.

“I love Chelsea Green. I love her. She reminds me of the Divas Era. Not that I’m trying to say I was like that when I was younger, but you can just see someone who’s willing to do anything for the business, and she goes out there and entertains. I mean, Charlotte Flair is phenomenal. Becky Lynch is phenomenal. Naomi… even Rhea Ripley, she’s a flipping superstar.”

Layla also expressed her admiration for the evolution of women’s wrestling and her excitement about its continued progress. She noted how wonderful it is that female wrestlers are now main-eventing shows and being taken seriously. Overall, Layla expressed her happiness that many women wrestlers today receive ample TV time to showcase their full potential, acknowledging that it was sometimes “sad” how women were treated during the Divas Era.
